Wha
t Is Epical Studios?

Epical Studios is a fan based music video group. Our editors and staff members are big fans of the awesome storylines and characters from video games (eg: Final Fantasy), movies and anime. We believe that music videos are great ways for fans to really connect more with those characters and stories that we love so much. It also allows us to focus more on characters and parts of storylines that we really feel should be focused on. We are committed to bringing fans high quality music videos because the games, movies and anime we all enjoy deserve to be seen in high quality.

How Did Epical Studios Come To Be?

Most of us met through NKode. NKode also was a music video site dedicated to delivering high quality music videos to fans. Unfortunately the site owner(s) were forced to shut their doors just as NKode was becoming well known for their excellent music videos. Some of us were staff there, some were “NKoders” (video editors committed and skilled to create awesome videos for the fans through NKode) and some were loyal fans.
Since the time NKode closed down we have gone through certain stages where we tried different setups to emulate what NKode was. It was after some difficult results that we collectively started Epical Studios on December 24, 2004. We hope to become your music video community.

How Do You Guys Work?

We are a team. Through our experiences since NKode went down we have learned that the best way of co-existing with all of our different opinions, egos, and desires for the community is through the use of a team. No one staff member is “higher” than another or has more say than another. We all have different ideas and opinions on videos and how stuff should be done or how we would like to see things done, however in the end everyone is given a chance to have a say in whatever goes down with the site, a current release etc. Each of us have a role to play and we all know that each role is essential to making this team and community run well for you, the fans. It is this setup that will ensure that we won’t be just closing down out of the blue, we will always have constant updates on the main site and forum and we will always have nice new releases for you to enjoy a couple times per month.

I Went To Look At A Staff Profile But The Picture And Text Is Too Tiny. Got A Magnifying Glass?

Some of us may, but you probably don't. If you're having this problem you're probably running Windows XP which has a habit of automatically resizing pictures to fit in browser windows. All you need to do is put your mouse arrow over the staff profile and after a second or two, two buttons will appear. One in the top left, the other in the bottom right. Click on the bottom right button and the description will now be at the regular size.

I’ve Just Downloaded A Video But Can’t Watch It. How Can I Get It To Work?

Our videos are compressed using DivX or Xvid. DivX is a video codec that compresses video sizes to keep them as low as possible. Most videos you see here will be around 50-70Mb in size. Without DivX they would probably be over 100Mb! This way you can get the file sooner and it saves us bandwidth. Go to http://www.divx.com/divx/   Scroll down to the bottom for the simple DivX package which includes the codec and the player.  Install the player and codec and you should be good to go. Open the DivX player and open the video. Serve Chilled and enjoy!

I Just Installed DivX And Was Able To See The Movie But The Video Was Messed Up OR The Soundtrack Seemed Off And Ended Before The Movie Did. Now What?

Sometimes our editors will use the Xvid Codec which is similar to DivX. (DivX backwards = XviD) The DivX codec generally is all you’ll need but just in case the sound is off or your having a problem with the video looking scrambled download and install the Xvid codec that can be found at this location: http://nic.dnsalias.com/XviD_Install.exe Follwing this link will directly give you the chance to save/install the codec. Install the codec and then view the movie again. Enjoy!

I Just Installed DivX AND Xvid and I’m still having problems. Are You Guys Just Trying To Load Up My Computer With Stupid Stuff?

Nope. Sometimes computers can suck. Try viewing the video in Windows Media Player and DivX player. Make sure you have the latest versions of each.  The movie SHOULD play well in at least one of them. If you are still unable to view a movie of ours properly please contact one of the staff via AIM, MSN. Our contact info can be found here. Or better yet, ask your question or post your problem in our forum. It can be reached by going here to our forum.  . Your question will be answered quickly and hopefully you’ll be enjoying some of our movies in no time.

I Like To Use Firefox And I Can't View Your Videos. Why Not?

Like with Internet Explorer, we ask that you RIGHT CLICK and SAVE LINK AS with your firefix browser. Doing otherwise will not allow your video to load.

I’m Having Problems Accessing The Forum OR Having Forum Problems In General. Help!

All forum questions and problems can be posted in the “Site Feedback & Forum Registration” Section of The Forum.
If your problem is preventing you from accessing the forum completely, please contact one of our moderators via AIM or MSN. Contact info can be found here on our staff page.

I Like To Make Music Videos As Well! Can I Join Your Staff OR Have My Video Released/Hosted By Epical Studios?

We’re glad that you would like to become more involved with us. However, as of February 1, 2007 we no longer accept video submissions to join our editing team. We do however, offer invitations. To be eligible for an invitation we look for people who are active members in our community. By posting in discussions or helping out others and being around on fairly regular basis this shows the us by your actions that you wish to be more than just a community member. You must also display strong editing ability as we are all about offering high quality muic videos to our fans. You can display your videos to share with everyone in our forum's Ads By Us Section where you can get feedback from the community members and staff alike. You can also share it with staff just to get feedback via AIM or MSN. You can find our contact info HERE . We thank you in advance for your interest and we look forward to seeing you active in our growing community in the near future!

Wow. Your Videos Are Inspiring! Can You Teach Me How To Make Videos?

While most of us are very active in our forum, we’re all very busy with life stuff (work, school, family or all 3 at once!) and that has to come first. Next we’re all involved with working on various Epical Projects (for editors - videos, for artists - site graphics/forum graphics, for forum admin/moderators – forum issues) With that said we would still be happy to watch a video of yours, give some suggestions or help you out with your video. Just know that we may not be able to help you out the whole way through. We will do our best however there is no guarantee. The best way to get help/suggestions/info on making music videos would be in our forum where we all frequently check in and see how people are doing etc. Many of our forum members are willing to give their thoughts and advice on other editors videos as well. So good luck and hopefully we’ll see your masterpiece sometime in the future.

Can I Request A Video?

Yes you can! Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that we will be able to grant your request, but you have a better chance making a suggestion than not, right? Sometimes our editors will get stuck for ideas and your request could be their next choice. Just post your request in our AMV Request thread here and tell us what footage ( ie: Final Fantasy X ) to what song and artist ( ie: My Heart Will Go On By Celine Dion ). And there you go. Hopefully the longer we make more and more videos the more requests we’ll be able to grant. If your request gets made your forum name will be mentioned in that videos credits. Thanks for your suggestions!

Can I Post Your Videos On My Website?

We’re very flattered you would like to have our videos on your website. We’re very proud of the videos we create and it really makes us happy that other websites are interested in what we have to offer. So if you would like to post our videos on your site you need to do a couple things first. First: Ask Us. Please don’t use the forum for this type of request as it will just clutter it up. Please email, Instant Message (using MSN or AIM) or Private Message either Auron, Lulu, TM, or Raistlin here with your site URL (so we know who else is hosting our videos) and we will be happy to talk to you about our videos. Second: Please Do Not Hotlink to our videos. We already have had a server get closed down due to a hammering from a couple hotlinks. By posting the video on your website you’re taking on responsibility to be able to host it.

You Just Mentioned Affiliates. Can We Exchange Affiliate Info With You?

We are a growing site, looking to get bigger and better the longer we're online. In order to affiliate with us we do have some requirement:
* Your site has has an average of over 150 main page hits per day.
* Your site is updated fairly regularly.
* Your site will have a decent amount of content and that content will be online and available.
* Our button/banner will be viewable/linkable from the main page. We offer your button on every page of our site. So your main page is a bare minimum.
.If your site has just started up and does not yet have an average of 150 hits per day, yet you have a strong amount of content and have good potential to get bigger, send us your info and we could still be interested in affiliating with you. Hopefully in the future we can enjoy being affiliated with your site. For affiliate requests or questions, please contact raistlin@epicalstudios.net

I noticed I Can Download Your Videos Through Bit Torrent. What Is That? Can I Get More Info On BT? Can Someone Re-Seed A Video?

If you would like to know how you can use Bit Torrent to download our videos, or need to request a re-seed please visit our BitTorrent thread in our forum here.

The Clips And Music You’re Using Aren’t Yours. You’re Breaking The Law.

We do not and will not accept money for the creation of videos nor will we charge people to view our videos that have copyrighted material within them. All media used belongs to their respective Copyrights and Trademarks. All we take credit for is the arrangement of the video. Donations toward site/forum maintenance are acceptable however. Contact one of the staff members if you are interested.

I Like Your Videos And Community But I Don’t Want To Join Your Forums.  How Can I Make A Comment On A Video Or Report A Problem?

That’s totally alright. As long as you’re enjoying our videos we’re happy. But in this case you can contact a staff member/editor via MSN, AIM or their epical studios email address.. Staff info and contacts can be found here.  Just know that you would have a much better chance at getting a response in our forum and the answer would probably come quicker.

When I Start A Video On My iPod the Screen Looks Weird.

This happened during the encoding process. Don't worry, the small distortion will go away before the intro tag ends. Some of the video may also seem cropped or zoomed in. UNfortunately there was nothing that could be done to prevent this. However, very little of the original screen is cut off and you won't miss anything good.

Why Have Both PSP and iPod formats? They're both MP4 Anyway....

During testing we found that only a few of our PSP formatted videos were accepted by iTunes and the iPod video. So each ES video was encoded specifically to be played on an iPod system. The iPod video has certain codecs (h264) as well as resolution and bitrates that have to be in place before iTunes will allow a video to be imported. These versions were made to make it quick and easy for you to drag and drop our videos into your iTunes and onto your iPod.

Thank you for checking out Epical Studios. If you still need to have a question answered that is not on this page then please feel free to contact us directly via the forum or contact one of our staff members through our staff page here. Thanks for visiting and we hope you've enjoyed your Music Video Experience with us.
